Just to keep the record straight, it was indeed an early image, but not mine; it's a copy I did of a Matisse oil as an exercise when I was first learning to use pastels. The work is "La petite mulatresse" (1912), from his time in Morocco. A contemporary called Matisse's Moroccan models "flowers translated into human terms."
